Past Projects

Prior to joining the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI), our organization was known as the Service Club of Kalamazoo. Some of the Service Club’s earliest projects included distributing anti-TB posters and raising funds for a community nursery school.

In 1930, the Service Club joined the Kiwanis Club in supporting Pretty Lake Vacation Camp, started years earlier by Kalamazoo’s Eddie Desenberg – this partnership with the Kiwanis Club continues to the present day. Since the camp’s first summer, more than 30,000 campers have enjoyed a character-building and enriching camp experience in the woods and shores of Pretty Lake.
