Training and Connections

The Junior League of Kalamazoo provides a myriad of opportunities for members to reach their educational, training and enrichment goals:

Organizational Development Institute (ODI) – Organizational Development Institute (ODI) is a training program run by the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). Two members are selected each year by the nominating committee that express interest in being future leaders of our organization.

Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) Trainings – Training sessions geared toward the specific needs of Leagues. Members are selected based on their current or future positions to attend training sessions in spring, winter, fall and an Annual Conference.

Michigan State Council (MSC) Training – Statewide training that brings all the Michigan Leagues together twice a year to focus on the issues affecting all the Leagues in Michigan. Additionally MSC has “Day at the Capitol” where members of all 9 Michigan Junior Leagues collectively discuss issues that affect our communities and how we can better them through non-partisan legislative efforts.

JLK Trainings – The Junior League of Kalamazoo provides training that helps our members improve themselves and learn about their community – providing our members with information to make them better and more effective volunteers. Special meetings or guest speakers are brought into membership meetings to enrich our leadership skills.

JLK Social Events – To ensure our members are engaged in the League we provide events where members can get to know each other on a personal level. The E&T Committee acts as our social hub, planning fun get-togethers each month. These are intended to be low-key events where we can get to know one another outside of meetings and volunteer events. When appropriate, we also allow for the inclusion of spouses, significant others and families.
